Akraifnio Marble Monument

 

Akraifnio is the modern developed city of the ancient city named Akraifia. The new city is developed at the grounds of the old city, which is why in 2010 the local mayor decided to honor the historical city by manufacturing a column monument at their central junction/square.

 

The three marble columns made from Volakas White, represent a portion of the Acropolis of ancient Akraifia as well as offer a tribute to the temple of Dionysus God and the monument of Apollon God, as written by Pausanias historian that existed therein.
