Maria Kokkinou / Andreas Kourkoulas
The transition from the architecture of the 19th century to what we call modern architecture placed at the center of its attention, the "dissolution" of the closed box with small openings and the formation of a new relationship of the limits, the inside and the outside. The addition to the neoclassical building of 1930 came to express this modern change from the topography of everyday life.
The opening of the gaze towards the garden and the water limits the whole operation to a "rooftop", and acts as a counterpoint to the existing neoclassical closed prism.
A decompression space that brings nature inside and dramatically changes the relationship between body - gaze - space. Two different atmospheres of space, which characterize two different ways of life over the course of the century.
